Funding
1. Neuroscience Street Fair opportunity: deadline 30 November 2012The Wellcome Trust, Barbican Centre and British Neuroscience Association (BNA) have joined forces to put on a season of activity in spring 2013 at the Barbican all inspired by neuroscience.
As part of this activity, they are currently recruiting neuroscientists, science communicators and artists for the 'Street Fair', a medley of interactive and hands-on activities, demonstrations, games and performance that will take place in the foyer of the Barbican. They are able to offer funding of up to £1,000 per proposal, and are looking to fund between 20-30 activities in total. The deadline for submissions is 30 November, 2012.

2. Wellcome Trust Small Arts Awards: deadline 25 January 2013
The Small Arts Awards provides grants of up to £30,000 to projects that engage the public with biomedical science through the arts. The aim of the awards is to support arts projects that reach new audiences which may not traditionally be interested in science and provide new ways of thinking about the social, cultural and ethical issues around contemporary science.

3. Wellcome Trust People Awards: deadline 25 January 2013
People Awards are for innovative and creative projects in the UK and/or the Republic of Ireland that engage the public with biomedical science and/or the history of medicine. They can fund small-to-medium-sized one-off projects or projects that pilot new ideas with an aim to scale up or become sustainable following the grant, or they can part-fund larger projects (up to and including £30 000).

4. The Physiological Society public engagement grants: deadline 28 February 2013
The grants, up to £5000, are available to both Society members and non-members, are designed to fund innovative and creative public engagement projects on any aspect of physiology. For further information see:

5. Royal Society Partnership Grants scheme: deadline 29 March 2013
The next round of the Royal Society's Partnership Grants will open for applications in January 2013. Through the scheme, grants of between £250 and £3,000 will be available to support teachers, scientists and engineers help develop science projects, with the aim of making the teaching science more interesting within primary and secondary schools. Any UK primary or secondary school teacher or practising scientist/engineer can apply as long as the students involved in the project are between 5 and 18.

2. Science Communication Conference 2013 call for proposals: deadline 3 January 2013
This annual two-day event addresses the key issues facing science communicators in the UK and brings together people involved in public engagement. It will take place on Thursday 16 - Friday 17 May 2013, at Kings Place, London.
This is your chance to propose a session at the 2013 Conference - do you have a successful project that you would like to showcase? Is there a hot topic that you feel needs discussion? Would you like to run a workshop to develop skills? The deadline for submitting proposals is 3rd January.

2. Ambition Lawrence Weston - call for board members/trustees
This project is looking for three experienced individuals to join their new board. Specifically:
· Individuals prepared to sign up as trustees/directors for a minimum of 18 months
· Individuals who can bring experience/expertise in: charity/company law; financial management; property, building and planning related experience; an interest in social enterprise and a commitment to social justice.
Lawrence Weston is a post war housing estate on the North West fringe of Bristol. It has a population of around 7,000 people, with a much higher than (Bristol city) average proportion of children, young people, young families and older people.

3. Arts and Humanities: Do you want to tell the world about your work?
BBC Radio 3 and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) are looking for emerging academics from the arts and humanities who are currently in UK universities and who have a passion for communicating the excitement of modern scholarship to a wider audience, through broadcasting.
They are looking for applications for the New Generation Thinkers of 2013. Up to sixty successful applicants will have a chance to develop their programme-making ideas with experienced BBC producers at a series of dedicated workshops and, of these up to ten will become Radio 3’s resident New Generation Thinkers.
