1. Comic Relief - International Grants Programme (UK) [funding]
UK-registered charities who are active in the developing world who work closely with local organisations, especially in Africa can apply for International funding through Comic Relief. UK-registered charities can apply for grants through a number of grant programmes including Trade, People Affected by HIV and AIDS, People Affected by Conflict, Street and Working Children and Young People, People Living in Urban Slums, Women and Girls, Sport for Change and the Common Ground Initiative.
The deadline for applications is midnight on the 22nd February 2011. Further information is available.

2. The Ecosystems Services for Poverty Alleviation Programme (UK) [funding]
The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) has announced the launch of the Ecosystems Services for Poverty Alleviation (ESPA) programme, which aims to deliver a planned seven year interdisciplinary research programme to ensure that ecosystems in the developing world are managed sustainably, contributing to poverty reduction and sustainable growth. NERC invites proposals for research consortium projects to address this agenda.
The deadline for full proposals is 4 pm on the 19th January 2011.

3. Art of Science, Tuesday 9 November [exhibition]
Art of Science is an annual art competition for Medical Science researchers inspired to produce art from their medical research. An exhibition of this year's entries, prize giving and a wine reception will take place on Tuesday 9 November in the Students Common Room in the Medical Sciences Building, University Walk, BS8 1TD.

4. Engaging with community members and stakeholders, Thursday 11 November
[workshop]
This workshop introduces a hands-on toolkit for creative groupwork, Ketso. Ketso is a social enterprise spin off from Dr Joanne Tippett's research into community engagement at the University of Manchester. Since then, the toolkit has been used in transferable skills development, including enterprise training at various universities. In this workshop, Ketso will be used to explore the topic – ‘Planning for sustainability in the South West and Wales in a time of budget cuts’.

5. Partnership Grants Funding Workshop, Tuesday 23 November [workshop]
The Royal Society's education section is holding a Partnership Grants funding workshop at the Royal Society in London on Tuesday 23 November, 17.30 to 19.30. The Partnership Grants scheme offers funding of up to £3000 for teachers, scientists and engineers to work together to inspire young people. The free workshop will provide the chance to find out what makes a good application for funding and how to develop a successful Partnership Grant project.
